Questar Pipeline Company ⁄ 36" Three Barrel Slug Catcher

Hettinger provided a three barrel 36" slug catcher including engineering, design, fabrication and testing with delivery to Questar Price, Utah facility.

The slug catcher was supported and mounted on a grated structural steel skid with three 36" OD lower sumps and two 36" OD 46' long upper pipe sections. The structural skid is an open deck design with three main runners and cross-connecting support system capped with a “pipe-type” lifting support on two ends. This project was sandblasted, primed and finish-coated at our Berthoud Colorado facility.

The slug catcher was designed to reduce pipeline surges and chatter from existing water and gas slugs entering the pipeline system. At shipping, the slug catcher weighed over 275,000 pounds requiring “special permitting”.
